It All Began With a total flop
I started a photography business with nothing, but a camera and a dream. I was new to the area and every time I asked other — successful — photographers how to market and grow my business, they gave me the same bull💩 answers.
After years of trying — and failing — thousands of dollars in courses, and enough frustration tears to float a naval vessal, I decided to study marketing with the dream of sharing what I learned with other entrepreneurs. Along the way I realized branding and design are what makes marketing work.
Morning cuddles with my sassy girls, stirring intentions + collagen into my coffee, and evening walks with my handsome husband.
Guesting on podcasts, on coaching calls with my amazing clients, making dinner, and reading thriller novels before bed.
Half truths, pointless emails, letting mistakes define me, kale, romance novels, complicated biz advise and cluttered schedules.
Straight talk, great stories, data, systems & lists, giant dogs, documentaries, and cutting out the 'meh' to make room for the very best.
In 2018, I had 3 kids under 5 and I was so tired of feeling lost and overwhelmed when it came to making my business actually work. I was depressed from feeling like the only person who just couldn’t figure out how to get a business up and going. I finally decided to get my degree in marketing, so I could figure out where I was going wrong and help others would-be entrepreneurs break free of the cycle of loneliness and overwhelm. While getting my degree, I learned two very important thing.
The first, is that I love branding and design. Being able to use my creativity to make something that a ton of people will see and identify with, all while remaining behind the scene?!? Yes, please!
The second thing I learned, is that those people I was asking for help years before, couldn't help me if they wanted to because they didn't know anything about branding or marketing, Basically, they lucked into their success.
I could see the need for strategic, knowledgable insights for those starting businesses and those floundering in the shallows like I was for so many years. I decided the best way to serve budding entrepreneurs is to help them create a functional brand and website, while teaching them the basics they need to grow their dream business, no matter what industry they're in.
My Superpower is Helping Entrepreneurs Simplify The Process of Creating a Beautiful Brand That Feels Authentic & Connects With Their Audience.
Picture it: Honolulu...2013. I was in my first trimester with our first daughter when I decided to start working on my dream of building a photography business. We’d just been stationed in Hawaii for a couple of month and I was so excited for the opportunity to grow a business and a family. I did free photo sessions and posted pictures on social media, trying to entice people to book sessions with me. In 3 years, I booked 3 session that weren’t friends I'd begged to take pictures with me.
When I asked other — successsful — photographers how to get more sessions I was told the same thing over and over: shoot for free to get word-of-mouth referrals. But how do you book sessions — even free ones — when no one knows you exist?
I bought courses and was left even more confused—not to mention pissed that I’d spent money on a course and now I had even more questions. We moved from Hawaii to Washington state and the process just repeated itself.
